Why we’re watching Barclays Scottish Open?

New home of the 2011 Barclays Scottish Open is Castle Staurt Golf links in Inverness, Scotland. This newly built master piece by Mark Parsinen and architect Gil Hanse was recognized as one of the top 5 best new courses in the world. This championship course overlooks the Moray Firth and well-known landmarks that are synonymous with Inverness and the Black Isle - Kessock bridge and Chanonry Lighthouse perhaps the most notable.

Chris from our office recently returned from a 12 day golf trip to Scotland and had the opportunity to play Stuart Castle Golf Links. This was one of his favorites of the trip that included playing at St. Andrews, Carnoustie, Royal Dornoch, Royal Aberdeen, Western Gails and more. Below are some pictures he shared with us from this course and has us waking up early to checking out highlights of this European event.

Pinemeadow Places to Play: Furry Creek

This Week's Course: Furry Creek

Furry Creek is one of the most interesting and scenic golf courses in British Columbia, Canada. It is located about 30 minutes outside of Vancouver and some of you may have noticed it on your drive to Whistler. Some parts of the movie Happy Gilmore were even filmed there where he tackles Bob Barker down the hill.

The experience is an amazing drive up to the clubhouse and features a very intimidating 1st hole. The drop is massive and you want to hit a 4 or 5 iron off the tee to keep it from sailing past the green. The second extremely memorable hole is the par 3 #14 that goes right in to the sound and is a breath taking shot. If you are in the greater Vancouver B.C. area you will want to make an extra trip out to the Howe Sound check out this great Robert Muir Graves course.

Pinemeadow Places to Play: TPC Louisiana

It will not come as a surprise but we love golf! All of us here love working for a golf company, passionate about the game and enjoy spending our free time playing locally here in Oregon and across the world.

Golf Week just released their annual list Best Courses You Can Play. We am sure you’ll find a bunch of courses on the list you have played across the US and we thought we would share some pictures of courses we’ve been lucky enough to play that are on their list and others that aren’t.

Every Tuesday this for the next few month’s we’ll feature a new course. It will include information about the course and pictures we took and played. If you like to submit a course for us to post on our blog contact us and we’ll see if we can make it happen. We love discovering new places to play and places our course go regularly.

This Week’s Course:

TPC Louisiana, Golf Week’s #2 Best Places to Play in Louisiana:

View from the tee box on #18. The TPC Louisiana hosts the Zurich Classic of New Orleans where Bubba Watson won this year. He won on the 2nd playoff hole and hit an amazing shot to secure the win. Golf Guru Tommy played the hole and took the pic and he obviously couldn’t do what Bubba did.

Even though he played in the spring after a hard winter the course was still fun to play. We didn’t play from the pro tees so I didn’t get the full PGA experience of a 7000+ track but you can tell how the course can cause problems for players of all skill.
